Patience May Be A Virtue

But this guy's act has grown tiresome. Don't let him close games until he can get people out. WHIP is 1.63. Ridiculous.

  1. Well, I mean it. For $8.75 million a year, you should be able to retire the side once in a while. The scarey thing is he's got one more year on his contract after 2006, and an option for 2008.

  2. Uh-huh. I have two words for you. Guillermo Mota. The man's 2006 W-L record is 0-3 and his ERA for the year is 7.82. We're all praying up here for somebody to be brought up from Triple A soon!

  3. Barb,
Yeah, he stinks. His WHIP is 1.8, which is SLIGHTLY worse. But at least your manager doesn't use him to close games. I'll take Wickman over Isringhausen any day.

  4. Yes, it is hard to figure out why Tony uses Isringhausen. What is SO GREAT about him? Ugh! He has NO self-control!!

Barb, I hope you can get rid of your pitcher too! How long have you been a Cleveland Indians' fan?

  5. Well, yeah, Wicky rocks, even though you're biting your nails until he's done. He has a knack for walking men, letting men steal bases, even letting runs score, and still doing juuuuuuuuust what it takes to win the game. However, the night we were in a tie in extra innings and Wedge put Mota instead of Wickman in the bottom of an inning, because it wasn't a "save situation", and Mota blew the game for us? Urgh.

Lucy, growing up in Cleveland I guess I've been an Indians fan my whole life! I hope things improve for your pitching situation too.

  6. Barb,
I hate to tell you this, but having a knack for walking men, letting men steal bases, and letting runs score, doing just enough to win the game...that was Isringhausen's M.O. the past two seasons. It's finally catching up to him. If that's how it is going down, get rid of the Wick now before your suffering becomes legendary.

  7. Hey, I'm a fan of the Cleveland Indians! Our suffering already is legendary. As for Wick, I wouldn't be surprised if this was his last year. He was drafted in 1990, he's 37, he now holds the Indians record for saves, he was an All-Star last year, and he's successfully come back from Tommy Johns surgery already. He won't be around too much longer in any case.

  8. Barb, I have been a Cardinals' fan since I was seven. They just become a part of us, don't they?

  9. You're right, Barb, your suffering is legendary, and I hope that ends soon.
