September 10, 1974

Where were you and what were you doing?

I was listening to Jack Buck describe this, as I had all summer. Which just happens to be #7 on the list of the greatest moments at Old Busch Stadium.

I used to think his name was "Blue" Brock, not Lou Brock, when I was a wee lad.

  1. I was in first grade, and I don't think I was paying much attention to sports. Then again, the 70's were not halcyon years for Cleveland sports teams.

What about Leroy Kelly and Brian Sipe?

So when did you start to pay attention?

  3. I don't know who Leroy Kelly is.(!) Brian Sipe's heyday with the "Kardiac Kids" did not start until 1979, and the infamous "Red Right 88" was not until 1981. I think I really started paying attention during the Kardiac Kids era. I remember crying when we lost to the Raiders in 1981. (Hey, I was a young girl!)

As far as baseball, I only had a passing interest in it until the Indians' glory years in the 90's. When the Indians went to the World Series in 1995, I was laid up with a sprained ankle, so my husband moved the television to our bedroom and we watched the games together. This got my husband interested in baseball for the first time.

Sorry, Leroy Kelly stopped playing in 1973, so you were probably too young to remember him.

Red Right 88- I forgot about that one. How come all the bad things that have happened to Cleveland sports fans have universally known names? It's not just a regional thing, you know?

Speaking of baseball, have you all come up with a name to describe the CC trade? If you'd have kept him, you might still be in the hunt, considering how good he's pitched since then.
