Monday Reading And Retiring Popes

Ecclesiasticus 34-35.
Micah 6: 6-16.

I didn't know popes could step down.  I always thought they died popes.

This changes everything.  I never wanted to be one because I don't want to work until the day I die.  It's likely others felt this way too.

I'm sure being pope, now that we know they can retire, will be a more desirable position for one to aspire.  It should increase the job pool a little more.

It's probably too late now.  But what might have been?

Did the Vatican even prepare for this possibility?  The pope has a retirement account?

Or is it like the state of IL, which doesn't even bother to fund its liabilities?  Let's hope not.
