Conservative is a cultural and social issue buzzword, where there is lots of common ground. Confessional is a doctrinal description.

Generalizations alert:
-Strong on doctrine churches label themselves confessional. Weak on doctrine churches label themselves conservative.
- Strong on doctrine churches focus on Christ's kingdom and the world to come. Weak on doctrine churches focus on this world and how we can impact it now.

If one is not confessional, conservative is a great word to use to "blend" in with the so-called Evangelicals.

And I wouldn't mind it if churches in this country would just teach the Bible in Bible classes. But I guess the Book just isn't "culturally relevant" sometimes.Scottius Maximushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497918826005463738noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9215722.post-1133491737335134792005-12-01T20:48:00.000-06:002005-12-01T20:48:00.000-06:00I am always leary of Lutheran congregations that d...I am always leary of Lutheran congregations that describe themselves as conservative. That's not the same as confessional. I think the word "conservative" is used to separate themselves from "confessionals". Besides, why are these "teachers" featured in the small group sessions: Bill Hybels, Rick Warren, Jay Dennis, Stormie Omartian, Max Lucado. Those Baptist teachers don't belong in confessional Lutheran Bible Studies, in my opinion.TKls2myhrthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06724036618937738900noreply@blogger.com
