I'm Not Afraid To Admit It

To the right, in the "sidebar" is my new song playlist. I discovered this website courtesy of Angus.

A lot of people may laugh, and it was voted one of the worst songs ever, but I love this song.

I used to listen to it on the radio while driving 3 hours back and for to school on Friday nights and Sunday evenings. It was heavily played. It was at the height of its popularity then, a number 1 song in its day.

But now it seems to get no love. Partly because the group who sang it sort of renounced it as a "sell-out" song to make money. But its a good song.

Look at the playlist. You'll have to click down the list of songs, because so far I can't get it to fit in the sidebar better.

Any guesses?

It is, of course, "We Built This City".

There are a couple other songs from this era on the list. There are several more that I'd like to add but aren't part of it.

I realized I never left a comment about the song referred to in your post. I listened to it for the first time.... and I can understand why it was a big hit back in the '80's. I don't like the song though... I'd go for something more like 'Rock & Roll' hah. The comments about it being one of most hated intrigued me however, and I decided to look at Wikipedia's entry.

Angus!

I'm trying to fix it.

You should definitely check out the article. I don't know some of the songs, but there is more than one I like on the list.

Rick!

Tell me where I'm wrong, though. What do you hate about it? The music? Lyrics? The fact it got so much air time?

Scottius!

Cheese...pure cheese. My "pure cheese" threshold is very low. :-)

That was one of the most manufactured songs I can remember. I'd expect that from NKOTB or N'Sync, but not from Starship. I guess that's what happens when the drugs wear off. lol

Oh, and they wrote it specifically as a promotion for San Fran to get the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
