2008 Goals

I was up and down with 2007 in regards to the goals. Some I met, others hardly got off the ground. This year I am hoping to do better.

- In regards to my reading, I am going to spend more time studying instead of just reading. I am not putting any time constraints on my reading this year, because there were times when I would just read to keep up with my own arbitrary quota. So this year I will slow down on quantity but hopefully add quality. I was thinking of reading at least a chapter a day, but really studying it in more depth.

I am also going to read "A Summary Of Christian Doctrine" from cover to cover.

- Finish my terrace/retaining wall project and expand my vegetable garden. I also want to start indoors from seed all the plants that I planted from seed last year outdoors. Hopefully they will survive with a good start indoors. Start work on a fountain/pond. I doubt I will be able to complete this in 2008, however.

- Continue my exercise routine but add pull ups to it. I cannot start this part of my routine until I buy and install the bar, however, so I don't know when this will start.

- Start writing on a book idea I've had for a long time that I am amazed no one has done. And no, it has nothing to do with why I hate rugby. I am actually serious for once. Due to this, I may not blog as much as I have in the past.

That sounds about right. Deo volente.

Thanks. I'll still be around, just not as much as last year. I put up 475 posts last year. I definitely will not be able to do that this year.

  3. Are you referring to Koehler's book? That book has been on my to-be-read list for a few months now, ever since our church's school principal told me about it. It is required reading for all our teachers as part of synod certification. Gotta love the opening sentence: Before it is possible to determine what is to be regarded as Christian doctrine, it is necessary to agree on the source from which such doctrine is to be drawn, and on the norm by which it must be judged; otherwise it is impossible to reach an agreement. That sentence right there describes why ecumenicalism is not valid...not truly possible unless you throw beliefs out the window.

Yep, that's the one. Great book, and our pastors our going through it in Wednesday morning Bible class, so I thought it very appropriate to also read on my own.
