Why Not Green Coffee?

St. Patrick must have loved green. Why else would he be associated with this color?

If one follows conventions, today is a day to dress in green, drink green beer... or drink green milkshakes.

I remember the good old Shamrock shake at McDonald's. I was always happy to get one, but I never liked how they tasted.

To look at it, it looked like something Green Ghost would make. However, that taste was something else. I think it was just like plain vanilla. What a rip off. I don't know what a green milkshake is supposed to taste like, but it can't just be plain vanilla.

Well, they're back again this year. Should I risk it and get one? Rumor has it the taste may have changed since the original.

  1. Alas, the shamrock shake is actually vanilla, I am afraid, and not very good vanilla at that. I grew up in a small town that had a family-owned confectionery that served this old-fashioned drink called a green river. A lot of people liked to get that on St. Patrick's Day. I thought it was kind of gross actually. In fact, if I think about it, there aren't too many green food items that I don't find to be gross. So did you take a gamble on the shake or play it safe?

Thanks. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on one.

Green food is okay. Green beverages just aren't Earthly.

  3. I thought at first you said "earthy" and I thought to myself, "Oh, no...don't tell me that this reasonably intelligent ape is into the whole global warming thing- all over a milkshake!" Whew! Dodged a bullet with that one. Good luck on your bracket picks. Stay away from Illinois if the Big Ten final is any indication of where that could be headed.

Rumor has it Illinois ate a mass of green food and drink prior to the game against Purdue. I stay away from Illinois like the plague.
