Wednesday Reading

Genesis 17-20.

Congratulations to Ohio State for beating an SEC team for the Big 10. Of course, it took playing 5 players who should not have played, but that's okay as long as victory is secured.

  1. Yes, but...

Should the NCAA take two years or more to determine whether rules were broken? Ridiculous.

I agree, if the rules violation was bad enough to pull them out of five regular season games, they should have been pulled out of the Sugar Bowl.

And Cam Newton probably should not be playing in the championship. Oh, he was punished by being ineligible on a Tuesday? Again, ridiculous.

  2. Dan@NR!

I agree. The NCAA is a joke, just like the BCS system. The fact any of these players gets to play shows the NCAA is all about the ratings (i.e., money).

I read a great book a few years ago called "Undue Process: The NCAA's Injustice For All". It's main focus was on the Deon Thomas-University of Illinois investigation. It's premise is that the NCAA is an arbitrary, corrupt and all-powerful organization in need of a complete overhaul.

And that was 20 years ago!

UT Coach Bruce Pearl played a major role in it. I just laugh at the surprise the media has had at his recruiting violations. Doesn't surprise me at all- I read the book!
