Dialects

I've done this type of quiz before, but this is the first time one truly localized where I am from based on my dialect.

It was pretty darn accurate.  The most similar cities for my dialect according to this were Springfield, MO, Louisville, KY and Lexington, KY.

Weird thing is, although I'm not originally from Lexington, I did live there for a time.

And the general vicinity it places me- Kansas, Missouri, Southern Illinois and Kentucky- is most certainly how I talk.

As Johnny might say

"That is some weird, wild stuff."

  1. It put me in Cleveland, Portland or Salt Lake City. What apparently really clinched it was the phrase "tree lawn." Here in NE Ohio that means the strip of grass between the sidewalk and the street.

  2. Barb!

I have never heard that expression until I took this quiz. What exactly is the reason it's called that?
