Some Post-Holy Week Nonsense

In my quest to be America's newest superhero, I have "composed" some new songs. Only one can serve as my superhero "theme song". The fact they took me a long time to compose is a testament to my lameness. But since I don't shy from embarrassing myself, here is my first rendition, in all its defective splendor.

"Scottius Maximus, Superhero"- Words by Scottius Maximus.
Sing to the music of "Revolution" by the Beatles, who have my deepest apologies.

(Scream- AAAAAAAAH!)
You say you want a superhero?
Well, you know...
Just someone to save the Earth.
Protect the world from all the "weirdos"
'Cause, you know
Someone's got to save the world.
When we're talkin' 'bout our destruction
Scottius Maximus will come to help us out.
And you'll know it's gonna be...all right...all right...all right.

You say an ape's no superhero
Well, you know
He just wants to save the world.
You tell me he's a big fat "zero"
Well, you know
'Cause flying always causes him to hurl.
If Scottius Maximus isn't your kind of ape
All I can tell you is, brother, he's got a cape.
Don't you know he'll make everything- all right, all right, all right

Ah ah, ah, ah, ah, ah...

Just call him any time you need him
Well, you know
As long as it's not on the weekend.
And don't call him during a Cardinals' game
Well, you know.
He'll start kicking A and taking names.
And you'll all be chanting "Scottius Maximus"
For saving America- and not even charging us.
Don't you know it's gonna be all right... all right... all right... all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right-ALL RIGHT!

  1. You know, I'm sitting at my desk trying to sing the song to your lyrics when I realize what I'm doing and stop. The lyrics are great, the tune is very fitting (kind of that rebellious thing going on, says Randy Jackson)...I'm sure it'll work well. The only way to really know is to record someone singing it and have us vote on it. Dan over at Necessary Roughness can sing. Ask him!

  2. I hope no one heard you. If we don't see you post for a few days we'll know what happened.

    Oh, Dan@NR, where are you?

  3. Nice.... but I prefer the Revolution lyrics better (By the way I can sing both versions really well and play a little on the guitar too.... but I'm biased). And by the way, while that is a cover for Revolution, if you look at the picture you can tell it's from their Sgt. Pepper days. If you watch the Revolution promo on Anthology none of them have mustaches or beards in the video (and they grew their hair out some more). It's no big deal though, I've seen pictures promoting Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane and the picture is from their "mop-top" days.

  4. I prefer the Revolution lyrics also.

"And by the way, while that is a cover for Revolution, if you look at the picture you can tell it's from their Sgt. Pepper days."

I don't see any writing on there saying this is from their Sgt. Pepper days. In fact Revolution hadn't been written in those days.

    As Mr. Howell would say:
    "Irresponsible rumor."
